Steven W. Becker is the Founding Member of the Law Office of Steven W. Becker LLC and specializes in criminal defense, appellate practice, post-conviction matters, and federal civil rights litigation. Mr. Becker graduated cum laude from the DePaul University College of Law, earning a Certificate in International and Comparative Law, as well as Order of the Coif and Order of the Barrister honors. He is licensed in both Illinois and the District of Columbia and practices in both state and federal court. Mr. Becker is also a member of the Association of Defence Counsel Practising Before the International Courts and Tribunals. He previously worked as an Assistant Appellate Defender at the Office of the State Appellate Defender in Chicago, where he prepared criminal appeals and presented argument in both the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court. Mr. Becker currently serves as Deputy Secretary General for the International Association of Penal Law in France and was the former Co-editor in Chief of the Revue Internationale de Droit Penal. He has lectured throughout Europe and the Balkans, as well as in Russia, China, and Brazil, on various topics of domestic and international law. Mr. Becker has authored more than 45 law review articles and book chapters.
